Sickbeard – A great way to organize your TV Shows

So you downloaded made legal copies of your favorite TV shows and you end up realizing that there are just too much shows to handle? It’s nowhere near possible to keep track of all of them and know when a new episode is coming out? Fear not, Sickbeard is here and it does all of this for you!

687474703a2f2f692e696d6775722e636f6d2f486b45686d62762e706e67Wouldn’t it be wonderful, if you would have an application installed on your computer that would know every TV Show you are watching, and that would automatically download new episodes when they come out? And possibly notify you that a new episode has been downloaded?
Well there’s an app for that, and it’s called Sickbeard!

Although it takes some time to completely set up, it is absolutely worth it:
Sickbeard will scan all shows you have on your hard drive, will fetch their info along with episode information like when the next episode airs, what episodes you have or which ones are missing, and so on.
You can also configure Sickbeard to automatically send a push notification to your smartphone or computer. I use an app called Pushover for that.

For all you non-Netflix/PopcornTime users out there, you can configure NZB or torrent searches to auto-download an episode when it has been aired. Furthermore, you can select the quality of the release (HDTV, 720/1080p Web-DL, BluRay quality, …).

There is an (possibly more powerful) alternative called SickRage which is available on Github, but I haven’t been able to test this out yet. The guys over at HTPCBeginner.com have written an excellent comparison though, so you might want to check that out!

Happy viewing!
